Train the Trainers

Atlanta, GA - October 15-16

The Train-the-Trainers was hosted by Central Missouri Community Action and UCLA Anderson School of Management. The Train-the-Trainer is a two day program that introduces the grantees to the I CAN Help My Child Stay Healthy Literacy Training Program. Participants were given instruction in strategy implementation, project management, staff and parent motivation, as well as marketing and community relations. All topics necessary to successfully implement and market I CAN to parents and to the general community. Grantees also participated in a mock parent training session, led by CMCA, which allows the participants to experience what their Head Start parents would expect during a parent training session. During the mock parent training, participants were able to take their temperature using a digital thermometer, as well as review the medical reference book used in the project. Generating excitement and momentum are key success factors in implementing a successful training, thus, participants were also shown different door prizes they could distribute.
