My internal clock has been off by a day all week long. Truman's birthday is a real brain fry!
Interesting week this week. I had a chance to present information about CMCA to staff members of Senators McCaskill and Blunt, and Congresswoman Hartzler, as well as Congressman Leutkemeyer himself. They attended a legislative breakfast hosted by the Missouri Community Action Directors association. We had a good hour and a half with them including time for presentations, Q&A, and some discussion about the realities of poverty. This was an important step in our ongoing relationship with our Missouri Congressional delegation. We really caught their attention when we pointed out that there are 3,485 community action agency employees in the state and the combined budget of the 19 community action agencies in Missouri is $230,093,691!
While I'm thinking about our state network, don't forget that it is Community Action Day at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals game against Pittsburgh on June 24. Check in with Evan Melkersman if you want to get tickets.
Thanks to all of you who supported our Foster Grandparent program in the Lucky's Facebook competition. We placed in the top three! That means shopping at Lucky's will bring in revenue for FGP starting in June. We'll send more information on that once we get the details.
Speaking of Facebook, Misty Larkins, PR Manager, is ramping up our agency posts for Community Action Awareness month. Make a point of "Liking" our page and share the most recent post so it gets the broadest exposure possible. If you're into hashtags, use these when posting this month about CMCA activities: #BeCommunityAction #CommunityAction #huggyheart
Have a great weekend!
