I simply can not thank all of you enough for the work you do every day. These are challenging times, fraught with change, disappointment, and opportunities. I recognize that not knowing a thing can be worse than just getting bad news. With that in mind, I have been sharing weekly information as it happens and even, in some cases, before it is fully baked. The upside of that is that you know what I know as soon as possible after I know it. The downside is that organizational change includes a million little details and sometimes I get them wrong. For those of you who have experienced this anomaly, please know that I am sorry and will forever strive to be a better leader. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please feel free to continue thinking that I'm perfect. ;)
Despite my flaws and the difficulties of working in a large, complex organizations with a plethora of regulatory and fiscal restraints, it may be valuable to know the framework I use for decision making. It is simple and I flat out stole it from Rotary International (I'm a Rotarian so it is allowed). Here is the four way test:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
As we move forward with Strategic Priority Area of Service Integration at CMCA, we will communicate as quickly as things evolve. Thursday there was a meeting with Family Development Specialists that will be assigned to serve our Head Start/Housing Choice Voucher families. Attached is a tentative staff assignment spreadsheet and the job description of those positions. As with any change, there may be a chance for assignments shift, but the goal is to have these assignments become firm as we move into our next phase of planning. I have also attached a DRAFT of a press release we'll put out next week. This summarizes the changes we are implementing and all of you can use if for talking points if you get questions.
