Please take a few minutes to read through our 2017 Gratitude Report. This is what we're calling our annual report from now on. This is a great way to show our appreciation to all of the people that make CMCA. Feel free to share it online with anyone who would find it interesting. We also have a few hundred hard copies that we will want to distribute to key stakeholders. Please let Misty Larkins know if you'd like a few.

We have a small team (Angela, Beth, Brooke, and Tammy) who have been working on our integration plan that we will start implementing in February. This plan reflects our strategic plan and will move us to more coordinated and comprehensive services. Feel free to take a look if you're interested in what we have in mind. Let any of us know if you think we're missing something.

On Monday the Bank of Missouri reviewed our 403b retirement plan. I was very pleased to see that so many of you are taking advantage of this benefit. Our investment portfolios are performing really well. No matter what fund you've got your retirement funds in, your money is making you more money than if it were just sitting in the bank. I've attached the review document if you are interested in more detail.

Annual return % by fund:

  • Aggressive Fund: 14.29%
  • Growth Fund: 14.20%
  • Moderate Fund: 12.13%
  • Conservative Fund: 6.75%

Do you vote? Don't answer that. It's none of my business. But I do think about this a lot. Nobody thought Doug Jones was going to beat Roy Moore in the Alabama Senate election earlier this week. On Monday evening Roy Moore was expected to win. But you know what happened? People voted! The people who cared more about their candidate won it for him. Black voters make up 25% of the registered voters in Alabama but they made up 30% of the people who voted on Tuesday. Hmmm. Makes you think. I try not to wear my politics on my sleeve but I do think people should participate. Turns out that surprises and underdogs can win when people turn up to vote. It reminded me how important a free democracy is and how important it is to do our part.
